You lead people. You also have opinions, goals, and accountability for results.

So when does a coaching approach actually help? And when should you lead differently? Leaders often hear that coaching skills are valuable for management. What's less clear is how to use them when you hold authority, are accountable for results, and have your own perspective on how things should go. This session offers a grounded, practical look at what makes coaching conversations work in a leadership context, and what gets in the way.

What You'll Explore

  • Clarity on when coaching fits: Understand the conditions that allow coaching to work with your direct reports, and recognize when a different approach serves the conversation better.
  • Boundaries that work: Learn how to set up conversations so both you and your team member know what kind of conversation you're having.
  • Staying present when you have a stake: Build awareness of how to manage yourself so you can remain curious and effective, even when you have opinions or goals on the line.
  • A framework you can use tomorrow: Walk away with practical guidance for development conversations that you can apply immediately with your team.
